This incredible electro duo of Ricky Reed and Arjun Singh is one of the bay area's best. After realizing Kanye's new album mimics Wallpaper's original sound, I felt it was time to shed the light on these cats. We discovered them through a sample disk from eeniemeenie records being passed out after a long night at a club in San Francisco. Quickly after popping it in to sooth our everlasting drive home, we found 2 tracks that were above the rest. The cleverly titled hits were "Evrytm We Do it" and "T-Rex". I kept these two singles on repeat for a good month and a half in my car. Anybody who heard those tracks instantly wanted to know who was responsible. Their first singles quickly became our theme songs for 2008. Our love for their talent grew after attending their performances at the popular sf clubs, Pop scene and Blow up. Not only do these guys own the crowd with their original creations, they rock classic covers as well. During their performance at Pop scene they even swapped talents with Ricky Reed on the Drums and Arjun Taking the vocals for the intro to Bell Biv Devoe's classic, "Poison". Whether you catch them as a supporting act or front lining their own shows, Wallpaper never ceases to please. Here is their video for their break through hit, T-Rex:
and here is one of my favorites which was aptly filmed entirely on a samsung camera phone in one day. Txt Me yr Love:
Did I mention that these guys were nominated for Sf Weekly's Music Award for the best Electronic Act of 08? Check these guys out at myspace.com/wallpaper , eeniemeenie.com, or at their youtube channel: wallpapervideos. Support your local artists.Spread the love.
